whoops it’s an article (:Peggielene Bartels, A.K.A. King Peggy, is currently the King of Otuam, Ghana. She was chosen to be one of only three female kings in Ghana, and when she discovered that male chauvinists wanted her to only be a figurehead, she said: “They were treating me like I am a second-class citizen because I am a woman. I said, ‘Hell no, you’re not going to do this to a woman!’” When she encountered corruption and the threat of embezzlement to the royal funds, she declared “I’m going to squeeze their balls so hard their eyes pop!”
King Peggy has maintained her work in Ghana’s embassy in Washington, D.C. while making education affordable in Otuam, installing borehead wells to produce clean drinking water, enforcing incarceration laws to deal with domestic violence, replenishing the royal coffers by taxing Otuam’s fishing industry to improve life in the village, and appointing three women to her council.
“Nobody should tell you, ‘You’re a woman, you can’t do it,’” she insists. “You can do it. Be ready to accept it when the calling comes.”

You know those people who are like “I bet that if I met myself from four/five/six years ago, we’d hate each other, I would probably punch them in the face?” Those remarks go around a lot near New Year’s, I’m not sure why, maybe it’s some sort of weird desire to better ourselves.
Yeah, I’m not one of those people.
I don’t know, I think that if I met five/six years ago me I would grab her and hug her and tell her that it was going to be okay, and then I would say “Now I’m gonna teach you three very important things. First, it’s okay to fight, to embrace the fire, but only for a good cause. Second, you’re a good cause. Third, this is how to slam a football player into a locker and how to snarl and how to look scary. You’re tough, you can fight, you can kick ass, it’s allowed. The world won’t magically become okay on its own, but you can make it. You can take the cards you were dealt and rip them up and do your own fucking thing because you’re the boss. If you don’t like your world, you’re allowed to burn it down and rebuild it the way you want.” And I would have really needed that.
So my resolution, and what I’ve resolved for the last several years, is to be that person. For anyone I meet who seems like they need it, kids and teenagers and whatever. So if you’re reading this for some reason, I’m really proud of you for sticking out the year, you’re tough as hell. You’re a good cause. You’re worth the fight, and it’s okay to fight. It’s okay to bare your teeth and kick and scream and make the world be what you want, even if it’s just for a little while.
And when you throw a punch, always keep your wrist straight, never wrap your fingers around your thumb, and remember to use your hips for power.

Never really realized how much fat was inbetween organs too!
This is why people shouldn’t get discouraged when they first start losing weight. Its not gonna come off your tummy and thighs first its gonna come off between the organs.. where it shouldn’t be!
These visualizations are some of my biggest short-term motivators. They help me remember that a lot of the physical changes that occur from healthy habits are in parts we can’t see.
I couldn’t agree with Risa more. It’s easy to get discouraged when you feel like your hard work isn’t yielding any results, but things like this help me to remember that progress isn’t always visible. But that certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t occurring.

Yes because it’s such a radical notion to expect rapists to control themselves.
Uh, we do tell thieves not to rob, though. We actually spend a lot of energy teaching kids that stealing is wrong. We keep trying to teach them it’s wrong through their teens and adult years.
And when someone gets robbed? Cops don’t ask them if their front door was locked. They don’t ask them if they invited the thief into their house and maybe said the thief was free to take things before changing their mind the next day. And this is true even though sometimes people do get robbed by folks they invite in under false pretenses.
Cops and lawyers and judges don’t work together to make people who get robbed feel like shit for not installing extra security systems or putting bars on their windows. They don’t use people’s former history of inviting neighbors in and letting them borrow stuff to argue that they had no right to expect someone to respect their property. The media doesn’t talk about how the thief’s promising life was ruined by their victim’s decision to prosecute.
Your metaphor is bad and you should feel bad.
