This philosophy applies to SO MUCH.

Agents want to love your book. Hiring managers want you to be exactly the person they need. The person on the other end of that blind date is hoping beyond hope that you’re their huckleberry.

Applies to interviews too!

A+ philosophy.

This definitely applies to interviews as well! I really like this! Excellent tips.

TRUTH. This totally helped lift my spirits and turn on the charm during interviews!

Leelah Alcorn was a 17 year old transgender woman artist. She grew up in a very religious Christian family. When she came out as trangender to her parents they told her it was a phase and sent her to therapy. The therapies they sent her to were religious ones that told her things like god makes no mistakes, told her she was selfish, and that the only way to cure depression was to follow gods path. She came out as “gay” at school so people wouldn’t be as shocked when she came out as trans. Her friends were accepting but her parents called her an embarrassment. They took away all electronics for 5 months and kicked her out of public school.

She was an artist. he drawing above was drawn by her.

She committed suicide on December 29th due to the transphobia caused by her family. Please remember her and the other transgender people how lose their lives to transphobia.

I DONT THINK YOU GET IT

IF YOU TELL A GIRL SHES PRETTY IT WILL BOOST HER SELF CONFIDENCE FOREVER

SO IF YOU FIND A GIRL PRETTY

GROW A SET AND TELL HER

no ok but like 2 years ago this one guy called me pretty and I still remember it to this day like whenever I think I’m ugly I’m like well at least that one guy that one time thought I was pretty

WARNING THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS CATCALLING OR SAYING “HEY SEXY”, ETC.

THAT MAKES YOU A DBAG

Legit.  I had a really nice carnie come up and talk to me while I was working at a festival once and he asked me out (I had to say no because I was leaving for college in a week and I was ridiculously busy) and when I asked why (because I’m an awkward human) he went “Well, you’re smart and funny and you’re actually gorgeous enough to make the volunteer shirt look good.”  That was years ago, I still remember it when I’m having a shitty day.

A bar has opened that doesn’t serve alcohol, and it’s surprisingly successful.

Brillig Dry Bar in Ann Arbor, Michigan doesn’t serve alcohol, but owner Nic Sims is counting on customers not caring.

She hasn’t had a drink in 20 years, and she wanted to create a space where people—including, but not limited to, recovering alcoholics—could gather to have fun and socialize without worrying about drinking. In other words, she wants Brillig Dry Bar to have “a bar-like convivial atmosphere, with snacks and drinks and conversation, without it being a bar,” she told MLive.com.

Sims runs the bar as a pop-up out of her husband’s coffee shop, Mighty Good Coffee. She serves interesting non-alcoholic drinks, like Brooklyn Egg Creams, Pomegranate-Rosemary Sodas, and Vegan Pumpkin Chillers, as well as snack plates with meats, cheeses, and cookies.

Though some detractors have accused Sims of being anti-alcohol, the bar’s opening night last Friday was packed. According to BuzzFeed, “Brillig’s first customers included former drinkers, pregnant women, Muslims, teenagers, and college kids.”

The next pop-up will be December 26.

One Million Bones DC

Led by artist Naomi Natale as part of the One Million Bones Project, this mass grave assembled at the National Mall in Washington, DC is composed of bones made of paper and plaster, but symbolizes the very real number of people killed in places like Sudan, Germany, and the former Yugoslavi. Each bone created by students and volunteers was matched with $1 sent to CARE, which helps send aid to Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
