Avengers/Circus AU
Part 1
Darcy is fifteen and terrified as she runs head long through the woods that surrounds her home town. She vehemently ignores the blood that trickles from her nose and lip and the throbbing in her eye where His fist struck her in His drunken rage. She can hear him running after her, threatening her to come back, but she won’t. She won’t end up like her mother; buried under the gazebo in the backyard where no one would find her. Darcy won’t wait around for the inevitable anymore. So she’ll keeping running, and stop waiting for someone to save her, because it’s pretty obvious even if they believed her, no one cares.
Bucky the Knife thrower and Clint and Barney the Marksmen brothers are on the edge of camp, patrolling their borders with the local police when Barney hears the telltale sounds of feet running through the woods that surround the little town they’ve set up shop in. When the threatening screams finally make it to them they don’t hesitate to run in after whoever this victim may be. What they don’t expect to find is a terrified young girl, covered in blood and begging for help as her pursuer catches up. The three men don’t hesitate to take her in, especially when it’s obvious she wants nothing to do with the police officers who clearly know her.
It’s with these men, and the other performers of Stark’s Steampunk Circus that Darcy finds a place to grow surrounded by love and hard work.
