I love how this is an actual definition of cultural appropriation and not just someone saying that white people steal everything.
A white person can wear a Native American headdress if they respect it, understand the culture, etc.No but headdresses (or war bonnets) are sacred items worn by Plains Indian men who have done something to earn great respect within their tribe and were sometimes worn into battle. Even today they’re usually only worn for ceremonial purposes and not everyday dress. They’re items of great spiritual and political significance. So yeah don’t do that.
Cultural appropriation= Nightmare Before Christmas. It may be done with the best intentions. But in the process of understanding it, you apply it to your own culture thereby losing some of the original meaning.
