I have to say something about this gifset, because people completely misunderstood why I giffed it. Everyone tagging this “anti Ward” and calling him a “serial killer” as if this scene proves how horrible he always was. Indeed, I made this gifset to show how Ward had always been this deadly and lethal, it wasn’t a new trait of the “true” Hydra traitor Ward.

People liked to woobify him in season 1 and view him as a grumpy kitty with a gun, when the reality of the situation was that Ward was a specialist. He was trained to be as lethal and deadly as possible by S.H.I.E.L.D. (remember that he went into the Academy as a young man—YES, he attended the Operations academy and was trained by S.H.I.E.L.D.) And he is good at his job. But people conveniently forgot this fact, and then were suddenly horrified when his true allegiances were revealed, as if he had SUDDENLY become a killer and wasn’t one all along (hint: he always was and the show never hid this fact from us!) Him playing board games with the Team and scrunching his face never took away this part of him.

However, the most important thing to understand with this gifset: Ward asks Coulson if he wants him to cross off the Rising Tied. Ward is not mentally impaired, he knows what is proper social etiquette and what is appropriate to say/ask. If Ward is offering to assassinate someone for Coulson, it means THAT WAS PART OF HIS JOB. THIS SCENE IS EVIDENCE THAT WARD HAD CROSSED PEOPLE OFF FOR S.H.I.E.L.D. BEFORE. What you cannot see is Maria Hill’s reaction to Ward’s statement—which is no reaction. This is not weird for her because Ward is simply asking about a legitimate part of his job.

I made this gifset because once Ward was revealed as Hydra, everyone hated him and called him a serial killer because he killed the people that Hydra told him to. And yet, he did the same for S.H.I.E.L.D. No one had a problem with Ward’s murdering when it was done in the name of S.H.I.E.L.D.

And that is ultimately my issue with the hypocrisy of this fandom. Perhaps I shouldn’t have tried to be cute with the reaction gif, because now everyone is misunderstanding and falling victim to their own hypocrisy.

this ^^^^ thank you

Yes, that!

On the same note, no one has a problem with Coulson & Co killing in the name of Shield. Where was the outrage when Coulson stormed the Guest House and had two guards shot that were only doing their job (and allied to Shield). Where was the moral outrage when Skye assassinated Donnie in cold blood.

How much blood do you think May has on her hands. Or Lance Hunter, the mercenary. Do you kid yourself into believing their victims all deserved it and it were all morally justified killings?

And I’m a huge Clint and Natasha fan but fandom really tends to romanticize their jobs, or forget what the word “assassin” really means. You lie and you kill in the service of liars and killers.

This fandom is full of hypocrites.
