So my number one question here is:

wHo was the firstie who ruined it for everyone

Was it one pureblood who overestimated his or her flying experience

Or was it like dozens of accidents

But what was the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back and made them shout this on every first year student’s hogwarts letter

Is this a newish rule?

Is this why parents need such a strong reminder? Because thirty years ago, when they were eleven, they got to bring their broomsticks to school?

Was it maybe james potter?

It was probably james potter.

Also, who was the spoiled brat who got an owl, cat AND a toad?

maybe it didn’t used to just be limited to those 3 animals

james and sirius making an agreement at the end of first year to bring the most majestic pet to school

james shows up to kings cross with a unicorn, sirius with a flock of solid gold flamingos

only owls cats or toads allowed from then on

fury-of-the-seventh

In their third year, the letter said only cats, owls, and toads so Sirius goes to Eeylops Owl emporium and the Magical Menagerie and purchases every available toad and cat. (He leaves some for other students)

He shows up at kings cross with six trolleys filled with pet carriers, and James uses the invisibility cloak to set hundreds of toads loose in the great hall.

From that year on, students were only allowed to bring one cat OR one toad OR one owl.

I’m just imagining Remus is the background of all of this, sighing and rolling his eyes and brushing feathers off of his notes
