Watch Robert Reich explain why we need to raise the minimum wage in two minutes and 30 seconds.
Sounds like common sense to me.
YES THIS.
When rich people get an influx of money they save it, and their spending patterns remain the same, because they’re already happy with how they run their lives.
When people in poverty have an influx of money, they spend it to cover the necessities which they had been sacrificing up until that point.
You can tell that advocates of capitalism are lying sacks of shit who will use any poorly formed excuse to defend their infatuation with exploiting economic disparity by the fairly plain fact that the engine of capitalism is economic “activity” - it only even vaguely manages to drag itself along when money is actively circulating.
That means that every person in poverty Should look to them like lost opportunity - since they Have needs and desires and economic potential but these are not being translated into economic activity for lack of currency.
And every Rich person should look like a betrayal of capitalism, since their hoarding takes capital out of circulation and stagnates economic activity.
But, weirdly, you mostly see the hoarders on the covers of capitalist magazines, not anti-poverty activists.
