I am absolutely livid right now because the House voted to defund Planned Parenthood for one year (a loss of 1/3 of their funding) unless they stop performing abortions. That means the $300 million dollars of federal funding Planned Parenthood gets from Medicaid and family planning dollars is now gone. The result of this is going to be less access for low income people to get the healthcare provided by Planned Parenthood. There’s still a chance that this bill will not pass in Senate and if it does will likely be veto’d by Obama. Let’s hope it doesn’t make it any further than it has now.

Obama has promised to veto the bill once it reaches his desk, but this is still ridiculous.
And we need to show with our support and votes that we are not ok with attacks on reproductive health care. State officials and other countries are watching. If they see that voters do not support this they are much more likely to change their minds
