OK Tumblr,

i see a lot of reblogs for Bernie here but we have to make sure we’re taking actions to ensure he has a fighting chance in this arena. His opponents have the money and the media circus backing them but he has us, so let’s run it!

The primaries are elections held months before the ACTUAL presidential election that basically decide who the main candidates for each party will be, specifically, who will be listed on the ballot in the election in november. if we want Bernie to stand a chance at all he MUST be on the ballot in November. For that to become a reality we need everyone reading this to get them and their friends to vote in the Primaries! I’ve used the site www.voteforbernie.com to list the following info below so you can all see it easily enough and share it with just a click. Check your state below for the appropriate information on when and how to vote in the primaries!

Below are the registration and voting dates for all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington DC (as a separate voting date). Be sure to register! Click your state to find out how! Below is a key to reading the following information!

Some states have open registration meaning it doesn’t matter which party you’re registered as, you can still vote for Bernie.

*** Some states are CLOSED meaning you MUST be registered as DEMOCRAT by the date’s i’ve listed to vote for Bernie.

*~* Some states are SEMI-CLOSED meaning you must be registed as DEMOCRAT or UNDECLARED to vote for Bernie.

# means you can register or switch parties the day of voting at the voting station.

REMINDER: About half of the states allow 17 year olds to vote in the primaries if they will be 18 years of age by the actual election. Check if your state let’s you do this and you can help if it is a state that allows this!

PS. Most polls think Sanders will lose because those polls target registered democrats who have voted before.

These tend to skew older and represent the ‘most likely voters’.

Prove them wrong.

It’s funny how Hillary Clinton will nae nae on stage, reference Beyoncé, try to court Latinos by saying she’s an Abuela, reference Star Wars, and literally change her accent depending on her audience, doing anything to appeal to everyone yet an old, unfashionable, unkempt, Jewish, socialist is winning with millennials by a 2-1 (and growing) margin just by being true to himself. Hmmm

The problem with Hillary and the people running her campaign is that they are running on the same mindset as everyone of that generation: they truly believe that millennials and younger voters “only care about memes” and are uninterested in politics or making the world better. What they don’t understand is that this younger generation isn’t uninterested in politics or the political process, but that they see American politics for what they are: a game of broken promises, where you can barely differentiate between liberals and conservatives as this point. The Democrats and Republicans running for office are all more invested in the interests of the rich and powerful than they are of the people. This generation isn’t untierested in politics, it’s just tired of playing a game that is clearly rigged. The reason Bernie is wrecking every other Democratic candidate with young voters is because he’s actually speaking about issues that this generation cares about, mirroring their fears and anger, and providing plans for possible solutions to problems like income inequality, the rising cost of higher education, the racism embedded in our social systems, the rising cost of living with no rise in wages anywhere on sight, etc.

You can whip and nae nae all you fucking want and wish the Force to be with me, but what I really wanna know is why students are leaving universities with $30K+ of debt to a shit job market to be underpaid for their skills, or why our police departments are being given access to military grade weaponry, or why black people can’t drive without being harassed by police officers, up to a point where they will sometimes end up dead. Hillary can eat me.

So I keep seeing those awful misogynistic Bernie supporters on Facebook and Reddit harping about Hillary Clinton’s $600 haircut, and I honestly couldn’t believe it. I mentioned that, you know, the $600 also covered hair color, with foils, probably a straightening or smoothing treatment, and an incredibly complex layered haircut. And STFU about Hillary’s hair anyway, there are plenty of legitimate things to criticize her for. But then, it hit me.

Men honestly don’t know about any of that. Men actually believe Hillary’s hair grows out of her head looking like in the above photo. They think someone cuts it for her and she pays $600 for that because she’s an idiot, and then she goes home and washes it with shampoo, goes to sleep, runs a comb through it in the morning, and then that’s how it looks! They honestly don’t know the things women, any women, do to make their hair look the way it looks. Presumably many of these men have wives or live-in girlfriends, yet somehow they’ve never noticed. Like, they think blondes are all actually blond. They think our hair is naturally shiny and curly in the right places. Seriously, go find a cishet guy, show him your flat iron, and ask him what it is! He won’t be able to tell you.

It’s just like all those memes guys post on Facebook of the girls with and without make-up. Like, the joke is they take her swimming on the first date because otherwise they would think she actually looked like that. Like they see contouring and metallic eyeshadow and pink lips and they think that’s what our skin does naturally. They are shocked and disgusted to see what women really look like! Good lord, no wonder Hillary Clinton and every other women in the public eye spends a lot of money on her hair. You’ve got to keep up that illusion because otherwise the hetero boys get very confused and pissed off.

This has been an incredibly eye-opening revelation for me.

Let’s talk about exactly what Hilary (or any other woman running for office) is probably paying attention to that men would never think of.

1. Her skin. Let me tell you, if she gets that smooth base and general decent thickness for her age naturally without help I’d be shocked.  ASIDE from that, she wears makeup regularly which means she has to have some sort of skin care because otherwise her face would be a fucking nightmare. Assuming she doesn’t get a professional run down more than once a year, and assuming (because of her age, financial standing and public appearances) a preference for mid to high range products, there’s easily $450 worth of product that touches her face over the course of 2 days. And that is assuming an average of $35 - $55 per product. And yes, some of those things are completely worth it.

2. Her eyebrows. Those are likely professionally done at least a hadnful of times a year. By her age she probably has a good idea what does and doesn’t work and maintenance on her own with just tweezers is pretty easy. It’s how I work. BUT that’s still 2- 3 appts a year at a place that has the least likelihood of fucking her face up for a few days at a time (you can easily have a reaction to the wax and look like a clown). PLUS tweezers and a few other tools. The cheap ones of those never work anyway. So assume $50 per couple of years just for those plus the appointments. I’m not denying that men often get a bit of the same treatment but no one is going to react nearly the same way than to a female public figure daring to let it all grow out.

3. Her makeup. At her age, it can be difficult to achieve a natural looking face. Fine lines and wrinkles can really screw with even your favorite formula. Good mascara and lipstick is also worth a bit of a splurge. For formal affairs she probably has a pro come in now and then, but she’s also been a professional public figure for long enough that she can do her own makeup. Even assuming only one or two high end products that’s easily a $250 shell out over 2 years. Which is the max you tend to want to keep a product anyway. Male politicians get madeup for camera and maybe to hide a pimple and usually it’s not their personal makeup stash but something that belongs to or is hired by their office or campaign.

4. Her hair. That ain’t no wake up and roll out of the door cut. So she needs a pro cut every 6 - 12 weeks. A pro color touchup slightly less often. That picture has her with a coloring that can really stretch without looking poorly maintained. Add onto that a good shampoo/conditioner. Styling products and styling tools. Prepping hair even 4 times a week for heat and style can be hugely damaging without doing it properly.

5. Her jewelry. Unlike her male counterparts, who can get away with a handful of tie clips and cuff links, Hilary has to match her outfits, not seem too thrifty nor too expensive. She has earrings and necklaces and bracelets and probably more than one watch.

6. Her nails. Odds are she maintains them herself, but I’d wager she needs them professionally done more often than you’d guess.

7. Her clothes: While men on the campaign trail can get away with 5 suits, 10 shirts and 4 specially picked out ties, I’m very sure Hilary can never win. She’ll be too “masculine” too “feminine” to “sexy” too “Serious” too everything and never enough of anything. If she shows up in the same pants suit twice in a week, there absolutely some asshole willing to equate that with someone being unfit to lead.

78, 80, 80, and 83.

These are what the ages of four supreme court justices will be in 2016, which means the next president very well could choose the next four supreme court justices when those four retire within the next eight years.

Why does this matter? Because the supreme court control all our laws, and we need supreme court justices that will be on the right side of the history.

Who picks the supreme court justices? The president.

Who would pick the justices the best? Bernie Sanders, who has a track record stemming back to marching with MLK with civil rights, has been a supporter of LGBT+ rights since before the 60′s, been against the war on drugs, against going to war for profit gain, isn’t owned by any one (he will not take any donations from corporations), believes in womens rights, believes that free higher education is a right, advocates for single payer healthcare, and is against big banks (wants to break them up into smaller entities).

This is the president who we need to choose the next four supreme court justices.

This is the president who owes no one, but the people who voted for him.

This is the president who hasn’t swayed from their beliefs for over 40 years.

This is the president who has always been on the right side of the history against all odds.

This is the president we need.

PLS READ.

Finally

it’s also worth mentioning that those four justices are Scalia (80), Kennedy (80), Ginsberg (83) & Breyer (78) - Scalia & Kennedy are both Reagan appointed justices who’ve been the main momentum behind most of the regressive decisions by the supreme court. Breyer is part of the liberal wing & Ginsberg is our Lord & Savior

so the point being is that the next president will have the opportunity to fundamentally shift the balance of power for the american judicial system.

if bernie is that president we could be looking forward to a liberal political climate for another 20-30 years.

Imagine the power and growth of individual rights and equality of 20-30 years of liberal politics.

This is why we need Bernie Sanders to be the one to choose.

Donald Trump is NOT “winning”

philostic:

zobothehob0:

There is a post going around that is very annoying and troubling to me because it contains false information about the American political system that could end up working against Bernie Sanders. So I wanted to clear some things up.

  • Donald Trump is NOT winning.  There is no “winning” at this stage.  There have not been any elections!  At this point, the polls are done basically on name recognition.  That’s how Deez Nuts ended up getting polled at 9% in my lovely home state of North Carolina, because people recognized “Deez Nuts” when asked.  But literally there are no elections for Donald Trump to have won.  That post says he’s ahead with votes… but there aren’t any votes for him to be ahead with.  The first Republican primary in in February.  At that point, we will have votes.  Now, we do not.
  • I want to reiterate, the polls mean NOTHING right now.  Literally Deez Nuts y’all.  Deez Nuts.  Deez Nuts is not a candidate that people would vote for… Deez Nuts is a candidate that made people laugh when asked. These are the current polls and their questions.  http://www.pollingreport.com/wh16rep.htm
  • These polls are about the Republican nomination.  I’m going to explain how the American political system works for a second here… See… We have two major parties, though the small parties have to do this same process too… but it’s bigger for the two major parties.  So candidates run for the nomination… because that party can only nominate one person for president even though many within that party want to run.  So before the election is to take place, each party has a “primary” election… where they vote for whoever will represent that party.  Once someone wins the primary elections, that person is the presidential candidate for that party and will run against the other presidential candidates for the actual presidency in November of the election year (I word it that way because that’s 2016, and some people seem to think it’s this November).  So currently, Donald Trump is running against other Republican candidates (honestly, they’re all horrible and the problem we’ve run into this year is that they don’t have a good front runner because their whole party is so split and divided about everything that they have no cohesive purpose, just as they haven’t for the past 8 years other than “keep Obama from doing anything” but they can’t run on that now because Obama doesn’t matter so they’re all just floundering) to become the person who runs against whoever wins the Democratic nomination for president in November 2016.  He is NOT currently running for president.
  • In some states, you must be a registered member of that political party to vote in the primaries.  Which means you must be a registered Republican to vote against Trump in the primaries.  In some states, you can be unaffiliated or independent and vote for ONE primary, not more.  Regardless, you cannot vote against Trump in the Republican primaries and for Sanders in the Democratic primaries!!!!!!  I have bolded this because it is SUPER important and people NEED to understand.  If Trump wins the nomination, it is beyond unlikely he would win the presidency.  If he wins the nomination, that would essentially give the Democrats the presidency because enough of the public is disgusted that that would never happen.  Sanders is not a shoe in though!  With Trump winning the nomination, no matter what Democratic candidate… they’d be a shoe in.  But we need to be fighting for Sanders to have the Democratic nomination!  If we don’t vote for Sanders in the Democratic primary against Hillary Clinton, we don’t get to vote for Sanders for president!  He’s come so much farther than anyone thought he would.  These are the current Democratic polls http://www.pollingreport.com/wh16dem.htm  We REALLY need to help Bernie.
  • Encouraging people to vote AGAINST Trump in the Republican primaries PREVENTS people from voting FOR Sanders in the Democratic primaries.

In conclusion VOTE FOR SANDERS in the Democratic primaries NOT against Trump in the Republican primaries.

Please boost this, our future literally depends on people understanding this.

penicillium-pusher:

Hillary Clinton keeps trying so hard to appeal to college-aged voters by getting on “our level,” but her idea of that is just using social media and trying to get in on inside jokes and trends.

Bernie Sanders is appealing to us by actually giving us the things that we want and that he knows we need: healthcare, reduced college prices, increased minimum wage, etc.

Bernie is treating us like the political adults we are, and Hillary is treating us like little kids who just so happen to be able to vote.

Why young people should vote in 2016

  • Recent graduates: You're heading into the workforce or will be come the end of the next term. The next presidency will be your chance to receive the future you want to have.
  • New parents: Giving your children all they need is what you want. Give them a world they are excited to enter at the end of their 13 years of public education.
  • Children of immigrants: The current system is broken and I have heard it from both parties. You are their voice on how it can be fixed for future immigrants.
  • People with part-time jobs: You have likely faced capitalism at its worst. Your opinions on issues such as minimum wage and healthcare are relevant and need to be heard.
  • All youth: You are NOT retiring/facing death by 2020. This is YOUR life we're about to vote for.
