I would like it noted for the record that throughout all of this, all the different bills, the procedural votes, the amendments and so on, not a single Democrat broke ranks once. If you genuinely think they’re neoliberal sellouts, this should mean something to you.

just to back up this excellent point:

#this is why all the progressive calls to fight Democrats as well as Republicans rings so hollow#because it betrays the STAGGERING ignorance of that mindset#you cannot get a single thing done except moral victories#and like I’ll be the first to claim the moral victory of HRC’s popular vote win but where did it get us? NOWHERE#and not even Sanders is being precious right now even though he’s got quite the record of shitting in the stew#the only way you get things done and defeat bad bills is a) persuading and b) HOLDING THE LINE#the fact that not a single progressive has realized how impressive it is for the entire Dem caucus to hold like this#is… well… not surprising #but shocking as hell (via @leupagus

Yo if you live in Alaska, WV, Maine, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Pennsylvania, or Louisiana, or Arkansas, please please PLEASE call your senator and tell them not to vote to defund Obamacare. There are calling scripts at the following link. A vote is planned today or tomorrow.

This is a life or death issue.

Please, people will die.

Something for all the “But Mike Pence!!!” types still arguing that we shouldn’t try to impeach Trump.(article)

Thank fuck, someone explained this more eloquently than I could.

(Though another reason this galls me is that Trump should be impeached because he has violated more laws than any president in our history. He needs to be punished for that. Saying that he shouldn’t because you don’t like the guy who comes next is attempting to game the system in much the same way the Republicans have been. Impeachment isn’t about trying to get the president you want. It’s about punishing the ones who break the law.)

I try to keep politics off this blog but god damn

the past 6 months of american politics have been like watergate, the army-mccarthy hearings, and a particularly bad season of house of cards rolled into one, every morning i wake up and check my phone prepared for a nyt news alert that jared kushner killed archduke ferdinand and trump is invading poland

this is the clearest assessment i’ve read so far

This reminds me of that picture I saw of someone at an AIDS protest in the 80s that had a jacket that said, “When I die leave me on the capitol steps” or something like that

Also yes fuck those bastards make them have to face the human sacrifice they’re signing to line their fucking pockets.

This is American artist and activist David Wojnarowicz. ACT UP scattered the ashes of at least 18 of their members on the white house lawn in a series of actions starting in 1992, with the chant Bringing our dead to your door / We won’t take it anymore”. This was done to protest the government’s "refusal to pass the AIDS Cure Act, inaction on drug profiteering, and unwillingness to establish a federal needle exchange program),”

Call Your Damn Senator

madtomedgar:

Hi!

You may have noticed the healthcare bill was finally released! You may also have noticed that it sucks and people will literally die if it passes! Here’s what you can do!

Call your senator’s office. Say “Hi, my name is (your name). I’m a constituent from (your town) . I’m calling to urge you to vote against the AHCA. Cutting healthcare to children, elders, and people with disabilities to give tax cuts to 400 wealthy families is unconscionable. This will destroy our state’s economy. If it passes (tell them how it will impact you, your family, your town, your friends). I will not vote for any politician who would put my/my family’s healthcare at risk for a few wealthy donors.”

Now, please.

The bill is now called the “Better Care and Reconciliation Act ” so make sure you use the right name!

I’m not kidding, folks, call your damn senator!
