I’ve never thought about Tony Stark being an artist before. But I mean, it would make sense. I mean, he is an artist, in the way he’s able to design his projects, articulate his ideas in the living world as an engineer. But he’s gotta have an EXTREMELY good eye for the human body and the way things look and move because of this. So he’d be a DAMN good artist.

Imagine him and Steve exchanging art tips, holy shit

imagine his political and satire cartoons holy fuck

okay but Tony growing up looking at his fathers drafts, but also looking at the pictures Steve drew for Howard and Peggy. Listening to stories about Rogers’ gift with a pencil. Sitting at Peggy’s knee as she talks about when she ran across Steve during the USO tour, right before he got into the fight, and how beneath the sketch of a landscape, Steve had drawn this little monkey, wearing his costume, balancing on a unicycle with a little, a little parasol in its hand. That’s how Steve saw himself, and then he changed it. He was a brilliant man, Tony…

And then Tony meets him, and never sees Steve draw. Just fighting, fighting, fighting, stepping in line with SHIELD and at first, Tony doesn’t get it. He doesn’t understand how anyone could look at Steve and see an artist. He’s just a soldier.

And then he meets Sam, and they start chatting–somehow the topic of Sam’s PTSD comes up which leads to Tony talking about his own struggle with his, right now. What he’s doing, what he’s taking for it, what a great support Pepper has been, and Sam is genuinely proud of Tony and Tony doesn’t know what to fucking do with that???? and then Sam’s like “I wish I could get Steve to where you are. I know I’m not supposed to be his therapist or his sponsor, but. I worry about the guy. Y’know when I met him, I asked him if there’s anything that even makes him happy, and that fucker still hasn’t given me a straight answer. He’s lost in his work, down the rabbit hole, I just wish I knew how to…give him a nudge in the right direction.”

Tony’s quiet for a long moment, long enough that Sam starts to shake his head, a dismissal on his lips, but then Tony holds up a finger and says, “Does he still draw?”

Sam shrugs. “I don’t think so–did he used to?”

“Yeah,” Tony says. “Yeah, I think so. I used to hear stories about–Y’know what. Y’know what, tomorrow–do you know Bob Ross?”

Sam is trying not to smile. “Do I know Bob Ross.”

“He’s great, right? He’s mellow and folksy, has that ASMR thing going for him. I bet you, I bet you, we get Steve in the same room as one of his shows, something will happen. The man makes me want to paint and I don’t paint. I’m terrible at painting. Especially landscapes.”

Now Sam is smiling. And laughing. “Okay. Okay, just tell me where Bob Ross’ playin, and I’ll bring the big guy his way.”

Its Tony’s turn to smile.

that guy’s phone in the first panel became more high tech in tony stark’s presence

I am laughing so fucking hard

oh my god how did I miss that

omfg

tony stark literally upgraded a flip phone to a smartphone by being within three feet of it

People pass their old technology close to him for his blessing and lo! It is upgraded. The miracle of the flip into the smart shall be told unto the ages.

I love how instead of just calling this a continuity error, the whole fandom decided “No, he literally upgraded the phone with his mere presence.”

Never change, guys.

Anonymous asked: So, Howard and Maria were one of the Winter Soldier's missions, right? And he was even ordered to make it look like an accident? I can just imagine all the Bucky feels when this comes into the light, especially when he's mostly recovered and with the Avengers already. How would he and Tony react?

everybodyilovedies:

ifeelbetterer:

Bucky wasn’t exactly loquacious around the Tower with anyone, but he went dead silent around Tony. For Tony’s part, he wasn’t used to that. He was used to the extremes of attraction and antipathy, not cold blankness. It made him nervous and that made his jokes turn mean.

Bucky stayed silent.

Tony got louder.

Bucky grit his teeth but stayed silent.

Weeks went by like this, Tony ratcheting up and Bucky shutting down. Tony couldn’t put it into words but it pushed every button he had to have one of those war heroes his dad cried into his whiskey about staring him down with cold, blank eyes. It felt like the old neglect but with new edges and Tony could have screamed.

But it all came to a head after a particularly bad fight in which Bucky lost one of his metal fingers down the jaw of a giant alien with molten breath. Tony brought him back to the workshop and tried to chatter through the tension between them. If he made enough noise, Bucky might as well not be there, right? It could be like the same as the companionable silence when he was alone with his robots.

“Your father,” said Bucky suddenly, cutting off a particularly long-winded story about a rocket launcher and Tony’s fifth grade teacher.

And, woo, was that not the topic Tony wanted to get going on.

“—was your bestest bud, I’ve heard,” said Tony, filling the air ever faster. “Such a great guy, glad you agree, Steve’s favorite—”

“I killed him,” said Bucky, cold and blank. “I remember that now.”

Tony stuttered to a halt.

“….the breaks,” he said slowly, “you cut…the…brakes.”

“Yeah,” said Bucky, solid. Cold.

“Then you killed my mother too,” said Tony.

“Yeah,” repeated Bucky. He pulled the screwdriver out of Tony’s lax fingers, laid it on the bench, and snapped shut the panel Tony had opened in his arm. “I’ll take this somewhere else. I can be gone in an hour.”

Tony’s brain was still swirling around the new information, he could barely understand the words Bucky was saying.

“…why?” he asked, bewildered.

Bucky had already stood but he looked back down at Tony on his workbench.

“It was academic for you before,” he said. “Hypothetical. But I’m a killer, Tony. And I can’t make amends for that.”

“It wasn’t academic,” said Tony slowly. “It wasn’t personal, but it was never academic.” He picked the screwdriver back up and motioned for Bucky to sit down again.

Bucky came slowly. He clearly expected to be hurt, it was written as clear as day on his face. But he came back, sat down, and waited for it.

‘God,’ thought Tony, ‘he thinks he would deserve it if I tortured him right now.’

It made his stomach turn.

"Bucky,” he said, using the man’s actual name for the first time and not one of a thousand variations of vaguely insulting nicknames, “do you know what my kill count looks like?”

Bucky shook his head slowly.

“Yours is child’s play compared to mine,” said Tony. “You were handling yours personally, one by one. I went for whole towns. Armies.”

He flipped the panel back open.

“It was never academic,” he repeated.

oooooooooooo this is great <3
