See, I probably need to get this out here before it’s potentially jossed by the next new episodes.

In the meantime, consider:

Luke Skywalker being a young Daddy to baby Rey by the time A New Hope begins.

Rey’s Mama has not been fridged, btw.  By mutual agreement, Luke is raising the kid himself and Mama just visits.  Luke still wants to get off Tatooine, but he wants to bring his kid with him because he doesn’t want the little one growing up always and forever wondering about her biological parents, just like he did.

So Luke has Plans, okay?  He wants to travel the stars but he wants to embark on this adventure with his little girl.

So imagine Luke’s terror when he comes back home to the homestead and finds Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen dead.

Imagine his relief at finding Rey, quiet and terrified in some secret cubbyhole that the Larses once devised for baby Luke.  She was quiet, because Aunt Beru told her to be.  And so she was never found by the stormtroopers.

Obi-Wan Kenobi, knowing the possible Disaster Scenarios in leaving Rey Skywalker behind (even if she was to be hidden with her biological mama), encourages Luke to bring his toddler with him.

Han made the obligatory grumbles about having kids on his ship but they’re really just for show and basically Chewie has declared that he’s adopting the Skywalkers, even as he’s happily cuddling the baby girl.

Han cannot protest.

When Rey meets her unknown “Aunt” Leia, she takes to the Princess immediately.

Also, Ben Kenobi does not get killed on the Death Star.  He’s got Skywalkers to look after.  Again.

Also, Rey would be Very Unhappy with him if she doesn’t have her Grandpa Ben.

Luke Skywalker has an even bigger reason to make that Death Star shot.

When a certain wheezy Dark Lord of the Sith finds out the name of the Rebel pilot who destroyed the Death Star, he’s understandably Pissed Off.

When he finds out that said Death Star Destroyer is a happy Cinnabon Roll Sunbaby with his own precious happy Cinnabon Roll baby girl, welp - this just in:  Darth Vader Defects to the Rebel Alliance.

I’d just like to add more happy/hilarifying headcanons to this:

– Basically Darth Vader does a Hunt for Red October style defection and brings himself and the Executor and her loyal-to-Vader crew over to the Rebellion.

– Also Vader has ALL THE HOLOS of Baby Rey in his private chambers.

– “Who’s Grandpa’s cute little future Empress?  You are!  Yes you are!”

– “Father, she’s TWO YEARS OLD, you can’t hand her the galaxy to rule just yet!”

– “Well, you and Leia would be her Regents.”

– “FATHER!!!  BEN, DO SOMETHING!”

– “I’m sorry, I must do as Her Imperial Highness bids me.”

– “Rawwarrrrgaaaaggghhhhhhhh!!”

– “See?  Even the Mighty Chewbacca agrees with me.  Everyone knows it’s best not to argue with a Wookiee.”

— The Clones would totally dote over “The Little Empress” and there’s always a couple of them as her “honor guard.”

– Luke has cottoned on that this is really Darth Vader’s idea of a Dad Joke™ but he knows he has a role to play and dutifully registers his mock protests.

– What Luke doesn’t know is that Vader is totally planning to hand HIM and Leia the galaxy on a silver platter.  This is Anakin Skywalker’s idea of making up for twenty years winning the Galaxy Deadbeat Dad Award™.

– Ben Kenobi knows that the Skywalker twins are actually going to dismantle the Empire once handed the throne but he’s just happy to let Anakin wreak havoc towards more deserving targets.

– Also, he thinks “Little Empress” is totally a cute nickname for Rey.

It got better!

- When Vader first arrives for his scheduled defection, there is some initial tension between him and Obi-Wan, for obvious reasons, but when baby Rey coos and waves at him from Obi-Wan’s hip, he’s like, “Eh, more important things to worry about.”

The Rebels finally realize that Darth Vader was absolutely SINCERE in his defection when they find him helping to change baby diapers and being HAPPY about it.

@jerseydevious

bless you

Maniacal cackling.  This would be/might actually someday be the title of the Fic We Shall Not Speak Of, previously discussed here.  I’m literally going to copy-paste because I’m so pleased with that summary.

Padme Naberrie-not-yet-Amidala is three when the Force comes to her, as strong as one of the great storms that close down all of Naboo, four when the Jedi turn her away for being too old, five when she begins teaching the Force to herself.

Surely emotion is not wicked at its core, young Padme says, surely not, and she reaches out, learns to shape the Force with her passions and her loves and her rages and her laughs, and it is warm and rich and wild and vicious and everything (and surely this cannot be the Dark Side).

When she stands on the Tatooine sand and meets a boy who shines like a sun, some part of her mind (the part that’s seen people die because their vaunted politicians took too long to see them suffering, the part that’s seen wars start over petty arguments and diplomatic differences, the part that looks around Tattooine and thinks look at all these suffering people, if only I had the power to save them) says yesssss.  And she reaches out and she takes his hand and she stays in touch and she assures him that no, emotion is not wrong, love is not wrong, Attachment is not wrong, he is not wrong.

One day…oh, one day he comes to her, wild-eyed, with the words of another person on his tongue and talk about Sith, and she does her research and she thinks look at all these suffering people, if only I had the power, and…

Well.  Padme only wants to help.  Surely the ends justify the means.  Surely this cannot be Dark, if it’s to save starving children and wounded soldiers and slaves.

And the Empire rises under the command of its Empress and her iron fist, Darth Vader.

likealeafonthewind:

I know the idea about Obi-Wan being called Sith Killer (or Sith Slayer, perhaps?) has been done before but what about this:

After Naboo, Obi-Wan becomes known as the Sith Killer in the Order. It makes him uncomfortable but he can’t get people to stop calling him that; even before he had killed Maul, he had already defeated two Darksiders (Xanatos and Bruck) so after this, his status as that really cool, badass Jedi to emulate just skyrockets, especially among the newly Knighted and all the Padawans and Initiates. It’s also pretty clear from the fire in his eyes that he is deadset on finding the other Sith. Other young Knights are eager to help - it starts with his friends Bant, Garen, and Reeft: Whenever they’re on a mission, they also look for clues about Dark Side activity; sometimes they’ll follow up on those leads after their official Council-assigned mission ends and then hand that information to Obi-Wan, who’s compiling them. More and more Knights and even young Masters start doing that. Soon, Obi-Wan unofficially is the head of the Sith Hunting Task Force.

Anyway, so Anakin becomes known as the Padawan of the Sith Killer, not the Chosen One (how many Jedi even knew that Qui-Gon thought he was the Chosen One? He only told the Council about it, after all, not made a general Temple-wide announcement). The Jedi are a little flummoxed at first about Obi-Wan taking on a non-Temple raised Padawan but then they’re like, okay, well, this is the Sith Killer. If he wants to do things differently, who are we to tell him no? It’s not like any of us have encountered, fought, or defeated a Sith. And maybe that’s even the better way to do things??? Bringing on people who have life experience outside the Order so they can bring new ideas in?

Every time Anakin does things that they don’t expect, or show more emotion and passion than they’re taught to allow, they’re just like….well, he is the Sith Killer’s Padawan. Obviously the Sith Killer is teaching him differently. Maybe this is how Obi-Wan was able to kill a Sith himself???  (Some enterprising Padawan managed to get their hands on the footage of the fight from Naboo and they all watched it. Obi-Wan was obviously feeling a lot of anger and fear during his fight, and then he calmed himself at the end and managed to defeat his opponent. So Emotions, then peace becomes the new motto for this generation of apprentices.)

Everyone starts trying to befriend Anakin. All the other Padawans start trying to be more like him. He’s passionately speaking out about slavery? Well, they will too then. Obviously, slavery is an evil that will lead people to Fall. It should be stopped. He talks openly about his attachment to his mother? Well, attachment must be okay then. (And they remember from that video that Obi-Wan was obviously very attached to Qui-Gon so there’s another point in favor of attachments.)

Some overly enthusiastic Padawan also hacks into the Temple records and finds out about Obi-Wan’s fights with Bruck as an Initiate. And everyone’s like, even then, he must have somehow known that Bruck was going to Fall. So people all try to avoid getting into fights with Anakin cuz like, if they do, does that mean that they’re going to Fall? Anakin’s the Sith Killer’s Padawan, after all. There must be something special about him. What if he too can tell when someone’s gonna Fall and that’s why he’s fighting with them?

So that’s how Obi-Wan and Anakin inadvertently change the Order. The Council starts noticing that something’s changing but they can’t manage to stop it or reverse it. The younger Knights, Padawans, and Initiates have stopped thinking of them as the all-knowing wise senior members of the Order and started seeing them as the old guard clinging to outdated traditions - none of them have ever fought a Sith or seen one in person, after all. Few of them even go on missions anymore. They just sit in their tower handing out assignments and reprimanding Jedi for not following their Code.

dream au: padme goes into labor as mace windu dies. anakin feels it, through the force, and runs to her instead of kneeling before palpatine - enraged, palpatine orders the execution of order 66, with a small addendum: kill padme amidala. take her children.

bail organa, present for padme’s delivery, fights off the soldiers trying to kill her but one blaster isn’t much against seventy - until, by sheer chance and the ripples of a disturbance in the force, ahsoka tano saves them both and they stowaway on ship towards alderaan. the nurse hands the twins to the clone troopers.

clone troopers catch anakin in the steets, and his death-by-grenade is seen by hundreds - except, he didn’t die. he dropped into coruscant’s underworld, chasing the signatures of his children, and he force chokes the soldier holding them. he takes them, and he runs, bolting to the nearest shipyard so he can steal a ship and escape -

palpatine is there, and he says, “she’s dead,” and tries to lure anakin back to the dark side - but anakin and his children escape by the skin of their teeth and shaak ti’s lightsaber.

padme spearheads the rebellion. she burns palpatine’s empire down, bit by bit, and repeats, “for my family,” like a war cry - she is unstoppable. the empire will fall.

anakin lands on the doorstep of the larses, says, “i need a favor.” beru and owen take him in. there’s more money with a mechanic in the family, and anakin builds the scanner he always dreamed about, and the slaves start to disappear.

until, of course, he’s outed as a jedi, taken prisoner by the empire, and stationed on the death star. luke and leia skywalker are not leaving their father behind, so they hitch a ride with han solo, break into the death star, and - come face-to-face with general kenobi and commander tano?

(via skymurdock)

if luke and leia were born during the clone wars

luckyjak:

like, during season 4, not after when everything went terribly wrong

- Padme, 6-9 months pregnant, rushes into combat all the time. Anakin has an aneurysm. “YOU ARE A SENATOR. HOW DO YOU GET SHOT AT ALL THE TIME???” and yet she never actually takes damage because she is ~flawless~

- officially, Padme’s children have no father. In an interview with the press, she said “I wanted a baby, so I acquired one” and that’s that. unofficially, anyone with the Force knows Anakin is the father. Honestly, anyone with eyes knows Anakin is the father.

- because you know how Anakin and Padme are the least subtle secret couple? Yeah, that goes out the window when she gets pregnant. Anakin kisses her mid-battle and smooches her back at camp and watches her with stars in his eyes and professes his love for her all the time. When Padme asks about this, he just shrugs and says “well they haven’t kicked me out of the order yet!”

- which is mostly because of Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan is deliberately pretending he didn’t see his former padawan makeout with a senator. it’s like, okay, he knows he’s supposed to do something about this, but they are in the middle of a war, and if they have to kick Anakin out of the Order right now for knocking up a senator then they will lose this war. Obi-Wan has more important things to worry about than Anakin’s libido.

- KIX  👐 TELLS  👐 PADME  👐 THERE  👐 ARE  👐 TWIN  👐 BABIES  👐 IN  👐 THERE  👐

- speaking of the clones, oh man, they are so fiercely protective of Padme. She is their general’s lady and their senator and they would gladly die before letting her or her babies get hurt.

- (but also, preggars Padme makes them sad, because will any of them ever get that for themselves? probably not–they were made to die, and with the rapid aging…but maybe one day…)

- Rex has absolutely had to go get weird food combinations in the middle of the night for his general’s wife. absolutely. that is in Rex’s job description.

- also you thought Padme gave effective speeches before? Imagine pregnant Padme giving speeches about needing to end the war for peace for the future. 110% approval rating comes from soft pregnancy glow.

- the twins are born on a battlefield in a camp where there’s blasterfire and smoke not two feet away. Obi-Wan is there, and he intends to tell Anakin and Padme both that he’s sorry, that they’ll get the twins for a little while, but they’ll have to go to the temple, they’ll have to be raised in the creche–

- but then luke is born, and the Force screams at Obi-Wan this is your padawan and obi-wan goes “oh” softly.

- also, Leia comes into the world and Ahsoka watches and goes “oh look it’s my padawan. I mean I’m a padawan myself but that girl is going to be my padawan some day this is rad.”

- so Anakin relaxes a bit, ‘cause the Force is going to take care of its grandchildren okay, it wants it’s favorite son to be happy.

- which means Palpatine has lost any and all chance of converting Anakin to the dark side. It will never happen now.

- i’m not saying that after they are born, Anakin and Padme strap a twin each to their back and then head out into battle, but Luke and Leia’s first lullaby is the sound of blasterfire and lightsabers

Anonymous asked: Imagine Palpatine giving Anakin a clone of Padme. On the surface Palpatine claims he is rewarding Vader for exemplary service, but really he's rubbing Vader's face in it over Padme's death.

Holy shit, that clone better be the goddamn FASTEST TALKER in the galaxy, man, because I cannot imagine her surviving five minutes alone with Vader otherwise, “reward” from Palpatine or NOT. Unless, like, sheer spite spared her, maybe, maybe just sheer spite. Of course she is not a reward, of COURSE not, Vader KNOWS she’s not, he–he–

Force, she looks just LIKE her. She doesn’t have the memories, obviously, but the Force signature and the lilt of her accent and the particular tilt to her head and the spark in the back of her eyes are all so, so similar, so very nearly PERFECT, so very nearly … so very nearly …

“Angel”. That’s the name the Emperor gave her.

It’s actually almost sad how here for the Vader/Padme pain I am.

@words-writ-in-starlight: the fastest talker in the galaxy NO FUCKING KIDDING vader is NOT A STABLE CREATURE OKAY EVEN ODDS ON TWO VERY DIFFERENT BREAKDOWNS THERE the first: murder of course because (vader thinks to himself) he’s already killed her once why shouldn’t he do it again? and she looks so like padme she does down to the stern line of her lips when she looks at him and she knows what he is and what he does and what her odds are of survival so she raises her chin proudly because she is nothing but a clone but she will die with pride and it’s…so much like padme (this is how liberty dies) he can’t let this galaxy destroy her twice he’s doing a mercy he’s SAVING her in the only way vader can save anyone anymore (he tells himself this) (it’s swift he can at least take comfort in that)(palpatine comes back to find her broken at vader’s feet and oh he is so angry that vader threw away this gift of his) (vader pays dearly for this as he knew he would) (but padme–not padme but almost padme–is safe at least he cannot hurt her again) the second: well…can the suit cry? and if so how would this girl this angel respond to the attack dog of the empire going to pieces in front of her who was her base structure to break him like this what does she do now?

@suzukiblu: #’are you an angel?’ #*flips table* #WHY DO YOUR TAGS ALWAYS RUIN MY LIFE FRIEND #WHY

Awww, you’re makin’ me blush.

Anonymous asked: Angel learns to answer ot Padme on Empire day, on that day she must pretend. She knows it's a day of grief for Vader, she knows that on that day more than any he just wants Padme, so that's who she'll be for the day. On Empire day they both pretend. Vader want Angel doesn't find out what he did to Padme on Empire Day. He doesn't know that Palpatine already told her. And yet with this knowledge, she gets ready each Empire day, places a pillow under her dress and ask Ani to feel the baby kick.

suzukiblu:

stylishbutdefinitelyillegal asked: So because I am evil and curious, what would Vader and Amidala do if they found out Obi-Wan was still alive (and doing his best to just sink into the background of the universe). Would they leave him be or hunt him down?

suzukiblu:

… relevant to that “she would sooner get a second HUSBAND” ask from earlier, probably. :X Vader’s instantly like “he is a traitor and a liar and I must re-murder him” and Padmé is instantly backed into a corner with no warning all like “WELL WHAT IF WE DIDN’T, THO??” and desperately grasping for LITERALLY ANY EXCUSE–

“You love him that much?” Vader asks, looking hurt. Or furious. Or both. Probably both, oh Force, this isn’t going to end well for Obi-Wan at ALL.

“He loved YOU that much,” Padmé says in a flash of terrible, reckless inspiration. SHE WILL TAKE ANY EXCUSE, AT THIS POINT. “Don’t you want to know how much more he’ll love you now, without the Council in the way?”

*sits* I am HERE FOR THIS.

Anonymous asked: I wish you would write a fic where you just fuck me up with the life-ruining kind of Anidala, I really just wish that.

Oh but friend, where would we start?

Canon?  BECAUSE CANON IS PRETTY BAD.

But no, we can do better.

The AU where Vader is the one to walk away from Mustafar and he goes to Padme and takes her in his arms and his Darkness and kisses her and says “anything, anything for you, my angel” and she is faced with a choice: use this weapon who’s come to her hand and trying to save the galaxy from him by conquering it, or take her children, soft fragile corruptible things that they are, and run as far as she can, hoping that the galaxy will be able to save itself while she saves them?

The AU where Anakin, small and alone and barely not-a-slave for more than a breath, has a vision on the ship traveling back from Tatooine, and wakes up screaming his throat raw for…something, and Padme comes and tries to take him in her arms and comfort him–a child-queen responding to the fear of a child-Jedi–and he flinches away like she’s lit him on fire?

The AU where they return to Coruscant and Anakin is turned away, and they go to Naboo and Qui-Gon dies and Anakin is turned away, and away, and away, until he’s lost and powerful and scared and angry, and Padme comes and takes his hand and stares at the Jedi and says “he is Naboo and I will buy out his contract and he will be free” and, surrounded by her handmaidens that night, realizes that she’s responsible for training him how to not drown in the Force and how to be kind and how to be gentle and how to be a free person?

The AU where they’re at war with the Separatists and some rageful clone from the 501st abandons his brothers and turns on his General and does what they had all agreed not to do, and goes to the Jedi Council and says “Skywalker has broken the Code,” and Anakin is cast out, disowned by the Jedi, disgraced in the army, distrusted by Obi-Wan, and Padme may be everything, but even Padme is not enough to replace all those people?

The AU where Padme is what breaks Vader in a whole other way, held like a threat over his head, like a promise just before his fingers, like spun crystal ready to be broken between Sidious’ fingers at any moment?

The AU where nothing changes except that Vader, burned and trapped in a torture-suit and broken to the will of his latest Master, feels a burst of power in the Force and he knows that power, he knows that mind, it’s Padme, Padme is alive and she will understand/forgive/hate/save/kill him, because Padme is stronger than he ever could have been, and Vader tears across the galaxy only to find…children, two children, a baby girl with Padme’s dark curls and his angry stare, a baby boy with his sandstorm-dust locks and her sweet smile, and they are his/hers/theirs/no one’s, but where is Padme?

Or.  Well.  There’s always the AU We Do Not Speak Of.

Surely emotion is not wicked at its core, young Padme says, surely not, and she reaches out, learns to shape the Force with her passions and her loves and her rages and her laughs, and it is warm and rich and wild and vicious and everything she is (and surely this cannot be the Dark Side), and when she stands on the Tatooine sand and meets a boy who shines like a sun, some part of her mind (the part that’s seen people die because their vaunted politicians took too long to see them suffering, the part that’s seen wars start over petty arguments and diplomatic differences, the part that looks around Tatooine and thinks look at all these suffering people, if only I had the power to save them) says yesssss.  And she reaches out and she takes his hand and she stays in touch and she assures him that no, emotion is not wrong, love is not wrong, Attachment is not wrong, he is not wrong, and one day…oh, one day he comes to her, wild-eyed, with the words of another person on his tongue and talk about Sith, and she does her research and she thinks look at all these suffering people, if only I had the power, and…
