So I went and saw Mad Max a second time with one of its visual effects workers, and we had some pretty cool discussions about the movie. He also let me flip through a storyboard book he was given really fast and so here’s a list of a bunch of stuff he told me…
• Angharad’s scars are from self-harm
• The scenes were filmed in order of how they appear in the movie
• Rictus Erectus’ baby head necklace represents that he has the mind of a child
• Mother’s Milk is turned into cheese
• Someone cut off Furiosa’s arm so besides that she’s completely healthy
• Immortan Joe is the most powerful out of himself, Bullet Farmer, and People Eater
• The Bird People (the ones on stilts in the Green Place) eat crows
• Rictus is pretty much immune to pain
• Originally History Woman/Miss Giddy was going to be killed by Joe to symbolize that he doesn’t care about the past, only the present where he is powerful
• On the original story boards there was going to be a scene where the wives are sitting in the War Rig and singing to each other
• The flashes of Max’s daughter represent his fears trying to escape so that Max can accept himself
• When Max is watching everyone go across the salts and his daughter makes him hit his head, for a brief instant her face turns into the face of the guy who shoots Max
• Nux imprinted on Capable and loves her because she was the first person to show him true kindness. They have more of a strong platonic bond than a romantic bond

Is Max/Nux a thing?
Please tell me Max/Nux is a thing.
I see no art; I see no fics. /But I want it to be a thing/.
I kinda see them more as a brotp, to be honest, like if Nux survived, well, he’s spent his whole life being subservient to one man and now that that’s gone I can see him transferring those feelings to Max? Old habits die hard. Like “i fixed your car!” “Wow that’s really cool thanks” “I BROUGHT YOU BREAKFAST MAX.” “Thanks but you didn’t have to-” “i captured you some servants!” “Wtf put them back where you found them!”

“…*confused face*”
Capable quietly untying everyone. “So sorry for the inconvenience. He’s a nice guy, really. Just go back to whatever you were doing.”
“HE DRIVES LIKE A BAT OUT OF HELL”
“Yes i know. Sorry again.”
Nux following Max around with puppy dog eyes and laughing too hard/agreeing too much at everything he says and finally max is like, “stop it. You don’t have to prove anything to me. I like you fine the way you are naturally.”
“Y-you do?”
Max just rubs his head absentmindedly and grunts and Nux just

Whenever he sees Max around he’s immediately like “HI MAX OMG HOW’RE YOU HOW’S YOUR DAY BEEN”
He’s like a psychotic duckling.

THE MAX/NUX headrubbing thing is CANON. It was only a split second so I missed it the first time around, but after Nux chokes on gasoline that he was spitting into the engines and Max is like, “Here lemme do it,” he reaches over and rubs Nux’s head as he passes him like “You did a good job is ok i’m not mad” and Nux is like :D
OMF I KNOW I LOVE THAT PART
He’s just like “you done good kid, go on back”

Cept that I kinda ship them :p
IDK if it was scripted or just Hardy/Hoult being adorable and perfect, but I was squealing into my popcorn at that moment.
