After Jessica Williams declared that she does not want to replace Jon Stewart, a journalist decided it to diagnose Williams with “imposter syndome” (the idea that a woman in a glittery dominated field doesn’t feel as if they’re not doing enough to be in said position) and this was Williams response.

Hey Luka, this is what your anon was talking about.

wow that is obnoxious.  i don’t really know what ‘lean in’ is, but she’s the professional, she knows what she wants, she gets to decide. yeesh.

Okay, look, I really would love for her to be the new host, because I am going to mourn Jon Stewart pretty hardcore and she’s brilliant and clever and I love her a lot.  It would make me incredibly happy to wake up one morning to a world with The Daily Show with Jessica Williams, whether it’s now or ten years from now.  But I think her reasons for turning down the job are very well thought-out and that it’s impressive she knows herself well enough to pass on the opportunity because she personally feels she’s not ready.  That sort of self-awareness and confidence in her own self is a large part of the reason that she has such a devoted fan base, and if that were to change and she were to allow public opinion to alter her reasoned decision, she wouldn’t be the same Jessica Williams we all know and adore.

So everyone should just step off her, yeah?  Glad to see I’m not alone in this.  (Also, the fuck?  Imposter syndrome?  Where the hell is your degree, woman?)
