Damage Control is a fictional construction company appearing in Marvel Comics, which specializes in repairing the property damage caused by conflicts between superheroes and supervillains.
I may be mixing up comics and cartoon canon but I’m 90% sure Damage Control was run by Nick Fury’s brother, too.
I would read the hell out of this.
Okay, Damage Control is one of my FAVORITE THINGS.
Why?
Because it involves this:
It’s an entire comic where the accounting department figures out that Doom, Super Villian, Despot, and Head of the Reed Richards Must Die club, has not actually been paying his bills.
And they send that dapper, charming individual in the suit there to COLLECT ON AN OVERDUE BILL.
There’s also a wonderful subplot about one of the account executives attempting to work through the loopholes of the Fantastic Four’s insurance documentation (the policy only covered the ORIGINAL members, not damage done by new members).
If you ever read a comic and thought “God, I feel bad for whoever has to clean that up,” you need to read Damage Control.
This sounds exactly like the kind of nuttiness I love about superheroes.
Fandom:
Man it's time for a black widow movie. She has been in more movies at this point than Captian America. She needs her own.
Marvel:
How about Captian Marvel? And Black Panther? A female lead and black lead!( but you have to wait for years)
Fandom:
That's great but a black widow movie would also be great
Marvel:
How about a slice of Red Room backstory in Age of Ultron? Because nothing builds up a women's background like terror and torture!
Fandom:
But why can't she have her own movie? Spy movies are successful genere, look at James Bond, the Bourne series? If you don't want to do her background, give her her own side story, like the other avengers have? Make a movie about her and Hawkeye saving the world or something?
Marvel:
Well you see there is a very specific formula to these phases, we can just slap her movie in willy nilly.
Fandom:
*makes tons of black widow fanart and meta, creates #opentheledger, continues to vocally pursue a Black Widow movie *
Marvel:
*buys spiderman to reboot a THIRD TIME* HEY GUYS LOOK YOU WANTED A MOVIE ABOUT A SPIDER WE GOT YOU A MOVIE ABOUT A SPIDER.
