OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING

I don’t know if it’s his skull, but I’ve always thought how amazing it would be a fanasrt of his skull, tbh, I have a headcanon that Furiosa recovers his skull and keep it to remember the day she defeated him, though she hated him too much to keep a part of him close to her.

Also, brow/forehead game so serious it’s carved on his skull.

-SKIDS BACK INTO THIS POST-

I don’t think Furiosa would go out and make an effort to find his skull (or what’s left of it), but what I do personally headcanon happens is that someone does find it, and brings it to her.

Joe’s cult is death, hence all the skull symbolism. Furiosa tries to create a culture of life, of regrowth, so she does not want anything to do with death symbolism. But that one Wretched, still clinging to the old system, brings her the skull of the Immortan on bent knee and she takes it, if for no other reason than to make the Wretched happy and send them on their way.

But what does she do with the skull? She has no use for it or want of it.

The sisters spit on it. Dag almost attacks it like a dog. The Vuvalini sneer at it. Max blinks at it and glances toward a cliff. Just toss it back to the sand, where it belongs, his eyes say. But she doesn’t, because she knows that some other Wretched will find it and bring it back to her again, this godforsaken man who, even in death, won’t let her be.

So she takes the skull down to the motor pool, puts it in a metal bowl, grabs a belt sander, and spends an hour or two every day, like a meditation, grinding the bleached white skull to powder. It takes a long time, but she means for it to.

She carries the bowl up to the rooftop gardens in one hand. In the other, there are seeds. The Dag and her child sit under a tree, and Furiosa beckons the child over. “Wanna help me plant some flowers” she asks. The child nods dutifully, and helps Furiosa gather a basket of soil. They make quick work of it, Furiosa telling the child that the fine white powder in the bowl is nourishment for the flowers, to make them grow bright and strong.

“What kind of flowers are they?” The child asks.

“Forget-me-nots,” Furiosa says.

They bloom and bloom and bloom.

“The approach that Keays-Byrne took when portraying the Immortan made a huge impression on those playing his acolytes, even before filming started. Nicholas Hoult, who portrays Nux, says, “Hugh was also referred to on this set as ‘Daddy.’ He went round for the first build-up of pre-production putting big posters everywhere. He even got some of them in places where you wouldn’t expect it, like the top of the stunt room gym… there would be posters of his face, saying, ‘Daddy loves you.’ It was like all of us War Boys were his strange family and kids. And we completely worship him. Hugh’s a fantastic actor to work with. I understand why those kids growing up here would believe every word he said and want to die for him.”

Reminder that this was the same guy that originally said to Miller during ‘Mad Max’, “Hey I’ll bring a couple actor friends to you to shoot that movie.” A couple days later Keays-Byrne showed up with a legit motorcycle gang formed from various actor friends. The Force is strong with this one.

Also: remember that costuming post I made?

Check out the wrap around Joe: the same fabric. I’m not sure either of his sons or any other males wear it, with the exception of the bit of wrap that Nux grabbed off Capable and ended up wrapping around his wrist.

Mad Max With Its Visual Effects Worker

dyinghistoric:

lunokii:

So I went and saw Mad Max a second time with one of its visual effects workers, and we had some pretty cool discussions about the movie. He also let me flip through a storyboard book he was given really fast and so here’s a list of a bunch of stuff he told me…

• Angharad’s scars are from self-harm

• The scenes were filmed in order of how they appear in the movie

• Rictus Erectus’ baby head necklace represents that he has the mind of a child

• Mother’s Milk is turned into cheese

• Someone cut off Furiosa’s arm so besides that she’s completely healthy

• Immortan Joe is the most powerful out of himself, Bullet Farmer, and People Eater

• The Bird People (the ones on stilts in the Green Place) eat crows

• Rictus is pretty much immune to pain

• Originally History Woman/Miss Giddy was going to be killed by Joe to symbolize that he doesn’t care about the past, only the present where he is powerful

• On the original story boards there was going to be a scene where the wives are sitting in the War Rig and singing to each other

• The flashes of Max’s daughter represent his fears trying to escape so that Max can accept himself

• When Max is watching everyone go across the salts and his daughter makes him hit his head, for a brief instant her face turns into the face of the guy who shoots Max

• Nux imprinted on Capable and loves her because she was the first person to show him true kindness. They have more of a strong platonic bond than a romantic bond

THIS IS SO AWESOME
