“The Rashomon Job” episode of Leverage was perfect. “Multiple people tell the same story in very different ways” is one of my favorite tropes, and God, it was so good. I love these characters. I love this show.
Ikr! To be honest, Gina Belman really makes this episode for me, the many wonderful accents she does as Sophie Deveraux just bring me so much joy. And it’s so much fun to rewatch this episode and look at how they all viewed the different players and their own roles.
Her accents! And also that fact that Parker apparently perceives everything Sophie says as nonsense! I was gasping with laughter by that point.
Also I love that Leverage is a show about people who care about each other and have fun together. It’s not all dire stakes and doom and gloom all the time, even if they do deal with serious issues sometimes. I just love watching people building friendships and families together, especially if the people in question are complete weirdos. Leverage <3 <3 <3
The Deserter’s Song (Radical Face) :: Man Burning (Josh Ritter) :: Hail St. Sebastian (The Mountain Goats) :: Hebrews 11:40 (The Mountain Goats) :: This Losing Fight (Sons of Bill) :: When The Pin Hits The Shell (The Drive-By Truckers) :: Hurt (Quiet) (Nine Inch Nails) :: All Is Well (It’s Only Blood (Radical Face) :: Good Man (Josh Ritter) :: Amy aka Spent Gladiator 1 (The Mountain Goats)
the thing you forget until you watch a show like supernatural is how damn impressive it is that leverage managed 77 episodes without ever having a character make a dumb choice just to advance the plot
Why does Leverage not have a bigger, more active fandom?
I mean the show has a main cast of five people. Two of those people are some of the most impressively and complexly written female characters I have seen on television. The other three male characters all defy stereotypes, you have a professional assassin who specializes in hand to hand combat who also raises bonsai and is a classically trained chef. You also have a black guy who is a total computer geek and genius. Then you have the ex insurance agent/ ex Catholic seminarian who decides to run a gang of super thieves. And those are just the men.
One of the women is a cute little blonde who will proceed to stab you with a fork, leap off a forty story building, and then steal a priceless painting. She has a complex backstory that is slowly revealed throughout the series and eventually she takes over the entire operation.
The other woman is a failed actress and brilliant conwoman who can manipulate anyone she wants too, this frequently includes the men on her team. She also speaks countless languages and is a total badass. She is also played by an ethnically Jewish actress who is the daughter of Russian and Polish immigrants.
This show has some of the best character development I have ever seen along with snappy plot and brilliant one liners. It’s also entirely on Netflix. It also makes Dr. Who references at various points. Summary, this show is absolutely beautiful. You should all watch it.
I just wanna talk about the fact he put a GPS tracker in her shoes. Like, at some point her STOLE HER SHOES and put a GPS in them….AND SHE DIDN’T NOTICE.
And somehow this is super creepy but makes total sense…
Also, I have this headcanon that Hardison slowly put a tracker in everybody’s shoes lol.
