And Littlefoot knew for certain that he was alone.

#second saddest scene in the movie #honestly i found this movie to be way sadder than say the lion king or bambi #because of this scene and the ones around it #while the other two movies just kind of glanced over the child’s reaction to their parent’s death #the land before time spends quite a lot of time focusing on littlefoot right after his mother died #and how much he struggled with the loss #and it’s extremely painful to watch as this small child #goes through the different phases of grief #blaming his mother #not eating #being in down right denial #and then this scene #this freaking scene #when he finally realizes and accepts that she is gone for good #it is much more powerful than any scene in the lion king or bambi #littlefoot’s mother is THE saddest death in animated movies for me#and i will fight you over this #because while the death itself is quite sad #it’s the aftermath that makes it memorable (via benvoliotheorphan)

Bambi and Lion King immediately tried to distract children from the deaths of the parents. Bambi had the sweet little birds come flying in, and singers coming in to sing about them. Lion King, while they showed Simba running away, Scar ascending the throne, we can’t focus on that TOO much so let’s throw in a wacky, zany song by two new characters who sing about forgetting your worries! No, quick, jingle the shiny keys in the sad child’s face before they get too sad about the dead characters!

But Don Bluth and his team brought a movie that showed actual stages of grief with this little dinosaur and it is powerful to this day.

no why did you do this to me i forgot about this i blocked it out why

also like littlefoot got to speak to his mom before she died which makes it even sadder.

I have you now.

#listen i love any and all concept of vader begrudgingly coming to respect han#like at first he’s obviously a piece of shit to him - han to vader that is#a scrappity idiot who just happens to be in the wrong place in the wrong time (which i mean. its TRUE but.)#who cares just enough (too much) and screws vader over#at first thats all he is: one of the banes of vaders existence just by being a piece of shit#but then slowly he realizes: han is /relatable/#the horror that strikes vader’s heart when he realizes this kid came up from nothing and doesn’t follow the rules and would - yes dammit#WOULD#die for his friends - that’s something vader knows#he can see the stardust running in hans veins and the smart alec thats jumping out to mask the tenderness#he can see the way a girl with big dark eyes and fire and passion in her soul looks at him (with so much softness)#he can see his son (HIS SON) rush to hans defense#and maybe that’s what makes vader shove any feelings of empathy aside: the fact that han has won his children’s love#when he never could#(but oh - OH - he /does/)#(he does and maybe hans not so bad any more)#(vader may have held a reluctant begrudging respect; but anakin sees him for the first time after so many years#looking younger and less tired than he has in years#and he smiles; hesitant and quiet. ‘would you accept an old man’s apology?’#han rolls his eyes#‘you’re younger than me here gramps’)#(in her old bunk on the falcon leia smiles very slightly in her sleep)

I am broke as shit, so I’m writing my best friend smut of my characters for her birthday present (which is WAY belated).  A-yup.  This is where I’m at with my life.  She’s a good person to put up with me.  I don’t even write particularly good smut.

New “kid safe” search engine blocks children’s searches seeking help on reporting sexual abuse, calls rape a “bad word”

sexologist:

Censorship of sexuality, especially while simultaneously violence, particularly sexual violence, is left uncensored, and the harmful implication this juxtaposition has on our collective sexual wellness, is something I’ve written a lot about, like here and here. Hell, I’ve even written a book about it.

So when I found out there is a new “kid safe” search engine called Kiddle designed to block adult search returns for children, I feared it had sex-is-bad-and-violence-is-normal disaster written all over it. When I learned the results are handpicked by humans and not a computer broadly banning based on keywords, I was extra curious to see if I was still right. I was.

I typed in a bunch of different searches that a child might reasonably want or *need* to anonymously ask the Internet. Well, I’ll let you see the results for yourself:

My girlfriend hits me” is also a bad word.

image

Inquiries about vaginal discharge are, you guessed it, also bad words.

image
image
image

Related bad words: menstrual care, menstrual pads, menstruation, and uterus.

image

When avoiding a gay dating website in the search results is considered a higher priority of “safety” for children than their homelessness, and you recommend confronting their abusive parents, we have a tish bit of a problem.

image

If I was 12, typed this into a search engine, and instead of results got a “bad word” finger wagging, I would take the answer to the “is it ok to be bisexual” question as a big fat NO it’s not OK :(

image

But the human censors apparently allows kids to search for this one under their “kid safe” censorship policies.

image

So questions about puberty, health, identity, and seeking help for sexual abuse is not “safe”, but kids buying guns is. I feel like a broken record, so I’m going to let you all unpack it this time. Discuss:

no shade but what’s the point of spending thousands and thousands of dollars to go to college if you’re just gonna ditch every other class like just save your money and stay home my dude

This. Like I have a friend who’s financial aid covers her tuition, enough to the point where she actually gets a lot of money back, and it even covers her textbooks. And then she’s skipping every day and failing classes. I mean she is literally getting a free college education, at a state university, something many kids would kill for.

that literally made me cringe reading it i’m so upset

“Bisexuals aren’t stigmatised”

himedevil:

choras-den:

With help from a bunch of lesbians from youtube:

  • “I think lesbians are smarter in a sense that we know what we want and we go for it, that’s why we’re gay”
  • “so if you’re at a party and you see the hottest girl there who turns out to be bisexual, whats your reaction?” “that’s really unfortunate”
  • “if she can make me laugh then I might be able to get past the fact that she had a dick in her mouth last week”
  • “if you’re with a lesbian then you know that they’re going to be going for you, for a woman, but if you’re with a bisexual…”

and a special mention for personal experience:

  • “I’ll have to keep a meter away from you tonight, otherwise you might make out with me haha”
  • “I wanted to tell you that you looked good last night but someone told me not because you might make out with me”

we constantly get told not to attend pride unless we’re in a same sex relationship, get degrading comments from both the gay community and straight people, are told we aren’t ‘queer enough’ and that because we can pass as straight we don’t deserve a place in LGBTQ+ spaces.

get fucked.

to add to this: if you’re a bisexual dude people are straight up not going to believe you’re not secretly gay/in the closet
bisexual girls are fetishized and bisexual guys are considered liars

Why am I not seeing more people upset by what Donald Trump said about the Mexican people? Not only did he call everyone rapists and drug dealers but he called all Latinxs drug dealers and rapists.
This is someone who is running for president.
Univision has said they will no longer be associated with anything that has to do with Donald Trump organization. They will not be covering the Miss USA and Miss Universe.
Rosalyn Sanchez has decided to not be cohost of Miss Universe because of what Trump said about the Mexican people and Latinxs.
Cristian de la Fuente has also decided to not cohost.
J Balvin, a Colombian singer, has declined participation in Miss Universe, a chance to be known in the American community, because of what Trump said.
Where are my people who are upset by this?
